Mend Ford 98R Noise Coming Engine

there is a noise coming from my engine ?

i think it is coming from my diesel pump as it not running right either how do i determine weather that is the case or not there is also some play in the pump the van is 2500cc ford transit (98r)

play?where?pumps are not exactley silent but noise should be even series of knocks as fuel is ejected into lines.usually unnoticeable.are u using supermarket fuel?dont.pumps cost to much to save 20p a liter.
