turn ignition on and cross the starter the engine should then turnover if this happens there is a problem with your diesel pump as this happend to me when fitting an engine my diesel pump witch is coded to the key i had not fitted i left the old diesel pump on the engine

if flashing RAPIDLY then your transponder in key is not being read. try using spare key [key has a transponder /chip built in to it,] if you look on edge of plastic part of key you will see a red or blue plastic insert make sure it has not fallen out in which case you may have lost transponder. if so your system will need re-coding [try a locksmith to see if they have kit to do it.]unless you have a master key [red].

no feed to solenoid red light flashing under clock on dash

have you checked that there is a 12v feed to small starter solenoid wire when ignition turned to start position. is it fitted with a pats system[ is there a red light flashing rapidly when you try to start ]
