Mend Olympus E-500 Press Button Worked

The auto focus on my Olympus E-500 has stopped working ?

The auto focus (half press of the button) has stopped working. It worked when last used about six months ago and has been stored in a safe dry place (desk drawer) since. It has not been dropped or damaged. CAmera is about four years old but has had very little use
