i owne my grande fiat punto from new, now heater stop working and its really hard to drive specialy at

I own a 57 reg Fiat punto active, the heater works for about 5 mins then stops, it will kick in every now and then during the journey, quite annoying this time of year, please can some one tell me what the problem is

check that the temperature cable the HOT/COLD device thing is actually moving the heater control valve when you move the lever,my be better to have the help of a second person to work the lever while you watch the valve maybe seized,or maybe the screw connection has come loose on the cable.
