how expensive is it to repair or replace a head gasket on a '96 punto

well lets think about this.....
£40 for a head skim
£50 for a gasket / head set
£20 for oil and filter
£75 timing belt kit
6 hours labour at ....£35 per hour

if you can do it for £200 how many corners are you cutting !

Any car will cost you £500.00 plus.Your choice,if it has overheated the head may need skimmed,at that age car it's not worth it,if you just need to run around a bit loosen the header tank cap off so the system doesn't pressurize and make sure it always has plenty of coolant in it,meantime look for another car.
