british gas 330 he?

I have recently had BG install one of their 330+ Boilers and have precisely the same issue. Occassionally (more often then not) when the boiler fires there is a loud boom. Had the BG engineer back after a few weeks of this and all he could say was that the noise was normal for this model. Maybe BG should make potential buyers aware of this before they buy it

I had one of these installed over 5 years ago (October 2005). I noticed it sometimes made a loud thud when igniting, other times it just ignites quietly. The British Gas installer said this is normal. I have not had any problems with the boiler apart from every winter the condensation drain freezes up outside because it is joined to the roof downpipe and there is nothing anyone can do about it! I just have a bucket under the boiler to catch the slightly acidic water which leaks out.

Got exactly the same problem. That's a reaal loud 'THUMP' when the gas ignites.

I don't have an answer, but I think I have the same problem. A reasonably new 330+ boiler frequently (but not always) starts with a cabinet rattling "Hrrummmp" that we hear throughout the house and even outside. We had a BG service man out (of course it was not doing its worst then), and he checked settings and pressures and said everything was fine. I've been trying to descern a pattern to no avail, but it is really getting to us and probably time for another call. This time I have been making some recordings which I will play for the service man through the stereo.
