andrews space heater?

my draper expert space heater runs on kerosene and diesel it has become very smokey and stings your eyes with fumes in the garage when turned on theres a screw thing in the bk of the headter with a hole in the middle of it in witch i have to block to keep it runing what would be wrong with it.

kerosene has no lubrication properties so over time it wears out your fuel pump and nozzle.
first i would check the fuel filter sometimes the o,ring in the filter assembly gets worn and the pump draws in air. just bypass the filter with a bit of rubber pipe into some derv or kerosene. if that doesnt work check the plastic key on the shaft of the fuel pump, 3 allen screws hold the pump onto the fan motor. if all seems ok it looks like you need a new fuel pump.
