Homelite 360 Professional chainsaw?

Just got my saw back from Stihl repairman who was unable to get fuel to feed to carb,even after installing a carb kit.The electronics is ok,spray starter into carb and it starts but will not keep running.Acts like the fuel feeding system is out,compression is good,cleaned gas line,needle valves.What do I need to do next,thanks for any help.

I did not read on after I saw your question. The carb may have been fine. The fuel line going to the piston provides the draw to pull the gas from the tank via the other line. It may look fine, but I bet that it has a hole.

The fuel lines may be leaking somewhere? The one to the tank and/or the pulse line

Take it apart a little deeper and you will find a rubber boot that takes the fuel to the cylinder. They wear out and you can find them online even though the parts are obsolete.

Has the boot between the engine spigot and the carburetor adapter been inspected? I just replaced the one on my 360 as it was leaking air, they are still available, part #12048C. Also, has the fuel line been replaced? It can restrict where it enters the tank.

Next, you may need to open up the carb itself, and see whether the flutter diaphragm has tapped the little needle-actuating teeter-totter flat, to where the needle is no longer being opened and jiggled by the cylinder vacuum. This is common among Homelites with many hours of use. Good luck.

If you are sure the carb has been cleane properly,You now need to look at the impulse side, this is the positive and negative pressure created by the piston riseing and falling, it will be fed through either a pipe to the carb, or throught a hole in the induction block, if this is ok, the next step is a pressure test of the crankcase, if you have a massive leak at one of the crank seals you will have no primery compression in the crankcase, if you have no way to test this replace the seals as a matter of course, there could also be leaks elsewhere,induction block/tube,base gasket etc.
