Hello David Dees.....Many Thanks for prompt reply and advice. In the end, I had to make two 20 mile Round trips to sort out the problem. There was a Spark, albeit rather Weak. However the Problem was with the Carb. It kept Flooding. That was adjusted and Hey Ho.= The Saw is working again. Many Thanks again to you for taking time out of your life to answer my Question. gary first run through these steps, place the removed plug against the top of the engine with the wire on the plug it has to be grounded to the block pull the rope and check for spark if u have spark put a small amount of gas in the cylinder maybe a thimble full replace the plug as quickly as possible and try to start making sure kill switch is on. if it doesnt hit or fire on the gas ur spark is too weak or no spark, remove the muffler and pull the rope slowly until the piston goes down and put a thimble of gas in cylinder and try this procedure u may have to clean the kill switch with some brake cleaner sometimes oil residue will ground out the switch if no spark is visible on the plug check procedure u may have a bad coil remove the flywheel assembly under the start rope and clean and sand paper the magnetic contacts and maybe they have rust keeping it from firing some old chainsaws are cylinder worn so much that the compression is too weak to run properly try these and let me know what u find thanks
