Hello Sheila,
First make sure the bobbin is turning anti clockwise in the bobbin case, you have to adjust the screw on the bobbin case about a quarter of a a turn at a time clockwise to tighten and then test sew, make sure you do not have a bit of fluff caught unddr the spring where the thread pulls through.
