how can i fix my indicator?

every time i put my foot on the brake pedal mu left indicator comes on and its a bidodgy for other road users behind me they think i am turning left when i am really going straight ahead how doe i solve this

you may have a bad or loose earth connection on the lighting unit

strip out the rear light unit, and check for corrosion around the various light connection points or for (moisture in the light unit.is a very good conductor causing the light bulbs to link up mysteriously ) i would also check that the earth connection back to the body is clean and tight .
