Mend Dishwasher Salt Dispenser

Salt dispenser in dishwasher?

When opening the salt dispenser in my dishwasher, there is water in it. I understand from previous questions that this is normal, but my question is do I just pour the salt into the dispenser while there is water in it? There is no reference to water being in the dispenser in my manual.

Just pour it in and let the water spill out,the water dissolves the salt and has to be there.
