lose of drive?

renualt kangoo van 1.9 diesel lose of drive ,removed n/s drive shaft and i think i found the problem but not sure were the drive shaft spider fits in side the gearbox ,when i removed it a spacer come out with it i think it should have a circlip to hold it in place but not sure if this would cause lose of drive,So if any body could help.
