Mend Brother VX691 Problem Knob Machine

My Brother VX691 Balance & stop motion wheel?

my problem is with balance and stop motion knob. The machine jams and when I try to trun the wheel manually it turns and turns but nothing happens - have taken it off before under instruction from a repair man and it worked up until now. Hope you can help me - machine is an old model VX691 Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much for your swift reply especially as I have to make a costume by beginning of Dec. Did what you said and it seems to be working - I should have bought a new one years ago as I have never got on with it, never mind it's working now. Thanks again :))

Hello Crissy,
Undo the screw on the stop motion, unscrew the stop motion all the way off, take off the three pronged washer and put it on a different way, put the stop motion back on,tighten finger tight only, tighten the small screw and test, if it does not tighten put the washer on a different way round.
