how do i set the timing on my singer 413? ?

Sounds like the bottom or top gear is broken, take the top off the machine and look at the nylon gear to see if it is broken, if that gear is okay take the bottom off the machine and check the gear unber the bobbin case area, if either gear is broken you can get replacements quite easily and if you email me I can attach full instructions to fix it, type in my address as you say it not as you see it because this site does not allow email addresses to be shown.
