cant get the craftmans chain saw 358.354830 to fire up?

The correct plug gap is 0.5mm, i do not think this would stop it from starting, you need to go through a basic check list, does the machine have a spark, if no check switch and wires to the unit, if ok replace unit, if we have a spark does the plug get wet, if no we have fuel starvation, check clean fuel in the tank, check filter in tank for blockage, remove the muffler and check condition of piston exhaust face, any signs of scuffing and the cylinder will have to be removed and piston damage sorted out.
