Can We get help on a Montgomery Ward Gas Stove by Tappan?
Can We get help?
Hi
We have a Montgomery Ward Gas Stove by Tappan, self cleaning oven with "open Lock Door Handle" 4 top burners. Electronic egnition or Electric Igniter (which ever is correct), Electric manual Clock Timer, Start Time & Stop Time Selector Switches, that reads: "Delayed Cook'n off. Push to set Timers". Seperate selector switch for bake, broil, T.Bake and Clean Options. Oven Temp Selector Switch. "Thermocouple or 2 metal sticks thermostat style.. and last not least 3 light indicators that Read: Clean, Oven, and Lock.
Only last 8 numbers of Model number are available : 88144704. The rest are cleaned out and/or scrached.
Last Sunday, My wife was doing the regular weekly cleaning beneath the cooktop area with little water wet sponge and little dish detergent.
Two days later we tried to use the OVEN but there was no life in it. It has completely stopped working.. No igntion, no gas flow, Oven light indicator stays off. We pushed, turned right and left and tried all controls and selector switches on and off many times.. Nothing helped. I even went little bit further ( I'm a handy man ) I unpluged the main power cord, removed all rear and beneath the cooktop area panels and checked for any initial or visible faulty conditions on/around those controls and selector switches and all related & connected electrical and ignitors wiring.. and also to see if there was any wet area and/or moistures. There was no visible bad faulty condition that I could observe.. no funy smell.. no wet nor moistures to see..
The good part that is:
1- The Top 4 Burners are still working normally.. normal electric ignition on all 4 burners, normal gas flow..
2- The electrical, manual Clock is still working.
3- The light bulb inside the Oven is still working and goes on and off when ever we open/close the Oven Door
Of course I don't have tools to test & check on the status of those Controls/ switches.. and I couldn't be able to find where the fuse box is located,, to see if there was a blown fuse.. nor I don't know how to ckeck to see if We have here a broken connection or if the ignitor and the spark module needs replacement.. but where is it located,, how to check it and how to replace it, and most of all how to know the full/exact model number of my appliance in order to buy the correct part if needed??
I just got laid off work last month so I can't efford to spend much money on this.. Your Advice & your Guidness on how I could repair this on my own (with your help of course) with little $$$ damage is highly appreciated.
God Bless & Happy Holidays
Thanking You
