Mend Hoover 3000 Dishwasher Detergent Compartment

Hoover 3000 softwave?

Detergent compartment cover won't open to release cleaner.Used to hear a bang when this happened. There is a rubber fitting near the holding catch which I think plays some part in this operation but I don't know what!!. Could it be burst?
