my bosche dishwasher stopped mid cycle?

after 10 mins on a normal cycle my dish washer made a slight noise rather like a fuse blowing and stopped, -no lights- no movement. I turned it off at the mains and waited a few minutes and turned it back on.This time it looked like Blackpool illuminations-everylight on the panel was on and it sounded as though it might fuse and even catch fire so its off. Any ideas what might be wrong?Is it safe to try to turn it on again later?
