Mend Whitestar 100T Boiler Water Heating Combi

boiler only gives hot water when heating on?

I have a whitestar 100t combi boiler, it started playing up, when turning on hot tap the boiler fires up then off then up and so on, however it will stay on with the heating on to give hot water, any ideas?
