Mend Fiat Punto Driving Car Water

fiat punto..w-reg?

hi all i have a w-reg (2000)fiat punto. when i start driving the car i get a water noise coming from near the front passenger side. it sounds like a swishing noise. my freind seems to think that it needs a new radiator cap..something to do with pressure. can someone give me a possible explanation.
