Renault master brake problems?

how to change the rear brakes on the renault master.
I've dismantled the brake assembly from the disc, then removed the piston assembly from the pad holder, released the bleed screw a little to releve the fluid pressure, placed a large spanner between the casing and the piston and pressed, the piston moved about 5mm then nothing, although sperts of fluid come out the bleed screw the piston wouldn't close, so I've had to replace the old pads until I find a tool or something to close the piston.

any suggestions.

Fitted two new calippers bled brakes refitted hand brake cable and adjusted but every time I use hand brake it travels a bit farther each time keep adjusting till calliper runs out of travel could it be passing hydrolic fluid in master cylindereri

Hi I've got a problem with with my 2003 Renault master ex ambulance. Rear brake lights work ok with just the ignition on but when engine is started and air suspension starts working with brake lights stay on with pedal depressed and won't go off until engine is switched off. Anybody got any information on this please?

I have a y reg master and have just changed the master brake cylinder & noticed there are 5 brake pipes can any one tell me what the 5th pipe is for & were it gose as I need to bleed the system

On a Renault Master 05 plate the rear calliper winds in anti-clockwise on the Near Side and Clockwise on the Off-side.
The Wind-in tools on the market generally have a left hand thread so the near side is easy. The offside has to be turned clockwise which requires the locknut on the tool (usually knurled) needs to be turned clockwise with a mole wrench to keep the pressure on the calliper.

Thanks guys Ive just done mine. yes G clamp the piston putting pressure on, turning the piston anticlockwise- tighten clamp again, turing piston agin - keep doing it !

I am pretty sure now that I have just done it that the offside needs to be turned clockwise and the nearside anti clockwise there is an arrow on the caliper to show this I used a peice of quarter thick mild steel with threaded hole in middle and a long bolt, put the plate into where the pad goes and screw down onto centre of piston, whilst turning the piston, for this I used the peg spanner from my angle grinder hope this helps

A pain of a job. Googled master rear brakes and found the previous answers, thankfully.
It's a bit of a fiddle, used an open ended spanner into groove on piston and a bar through ring end. My Dad then managed to exert enough pressure with a smaller spanner through the hole in cylinder end.
Sore when the spanner slips, got there in the end.

i'll assume this is fitted with a caliper hand brake. if so you need to turn the piston clockwise and apply pressure, there is a wind back tool for this job very affective but not cheap. i use grips a G clamp and a friend to assist. when re-fitted pump the pedal till hard before applying the hand brake. if you don't the hand brake wont work

Top marks John - indeed the piston screw is a left-hand (counterclockwise) thread on the Bosch caliper assembly. This is also indicated by a direction arrow on the caliper casing. I managed the job without a special tool, but with great difficulty born of desperation to get my van back to work without delay. Simply turning the piston was unproductive; significant downward force needed to be applied at the same time. I used a slim pipe-wrench to turn the piston (great care not to compromise the integrity of the seal) whilst at the same time levering a ball-ended bar against the centre of the piston.
Work done at offside of van, at roadside, in driving rain, but with a splendid view of Portland (UK) harbour.
This rear brake caliper work applies not only to Master Van, but also to Vauxhall or Opel Movano and Nissan Cabstar which share the identical caliper assembly.
Top marks to Dorset Friction Linings at the Granby Ind Est in Weymouth for coming up with the pads SO quickly at little above Internet best price.

I am pretty sure that the pistons have to be wound back in, there is a special tool available to assist you with this.

The piston needs to be turned when it is pushed back in - and I have a feeling in my water that its one of the few that have to be turned anti clockwise...but not absolutely sure.
