why does my bike cut out when i open the throttle?

it could be the air flow on ur gilera dna might need to buy a new jet they cost no more than 3 pound and there inside ur carb

Your carburetta has jets inside, A smaller jet and a main jet, The main jet sound like it is blocked, Which when you throttle up is not passing fuel throught it, This is located inside the carburetta mainly where the float is situated at the bottom of the carb, You need to removed this to gain access to main jet, Is possible to clean these just using a sewing needle or using an airline to blow out clean, If this doesnt work remove the main jet which is screwed in and clear obstruction and refit, It will rectify the problem and your bike will be running again.

sounds like blockage in main jet. take it out of carb and check.
