my laptop locked up tight!?

ok my daughter locked up my computer last night. it wont do anything all it asks me for is the password? it is a black screen with a blue box! also my computer is a toshiba with windows vista,please help!!! one more thing i know nothing about computers so please if you can make it simple! thanks PLEASE HELP

You are not the first person on here to have a problem like this... If your daughter refuses to divulge the password or is unable to tell you from some other reason then the answer usually given on here is to take it to a specialist repairer with proof of purchace - to show that you have it legitimately - and they will sort you out for a small fee.
