where is the dipstick on my automatic renault?

i own a scenic automatic,drives normal ,then a "bang",the gearbox light goes on and box sounds terrible..if i turn off engine ,then restart ,it goes off and drives normal.what is wrong and where is the dipstick to check the level

I suspect you have a DPO transmission. If so you probably have a pressure regulation fault (soleniods). Leave the oil alone. Scan with decent scanner and check live data of actual pressure and commanded pressure.(Snap-On will only show actual.)Seek tranny guy. 'fedauto.co.uk'
