Mend AEG oko_favorit 5040 Wrong Aeg Dishwasher

What is wrong with my AEG dishwasher?

I have an AEG oko_favorit 5040 dishwaser and it still works really well - on the bottom half! The top cups rack is much more 'hit & miss', sometime all the cups & glasses come out clean but more often, a couple are left with a sandy sediment stuck to the bottom of the cup - sometimes I have to re-do nearly all the cups because of the muck stuck to them! It is driving me mad so any suggestions or advice would be great! cheers
