mitsubishi lancer 89 ca 5 door hatch fuel injected?

i am changing the cylinder head but i can't get the distributor out all of the way it comes out about an inch so that i can see the O ring but thats as far as i can get it to go. it is situated at the back side of the engine and goes through the intake manifold so without removing it i can't remove the manifold which means i can't remove the head.
