how can i fix john deere ride on mower...STX38?

cannot start mower but need to move it. is there a 'release' thingy? hand brake is off, mower in neutral, but feels like mower is "jammed"

try putting the handbrake ON! I had a similar problem that the brake function seems to be "reversed", alternatively, look under the rear left side axle and there is a small plate with a circular hole in it, this rotates 90 degrees to "unlock" the transmission and allows you to push it.
