Mend Nissan Micra 1st Gear Gears

Nissn Micra noisy/whining gearbox?

My Micra has a whining/noisy gearbox,especially bad in 1st gear but the whine is still there in all gears.
Any ideas?
Should i start by checking the gearbox oil?

Nissan Nissan Micra Vehicles, Cars 1st Gear Gears

Good idea.
You check it by removing the speedometer drive cable from the top of the gearbox - there is a hexagon nut to be slackened.
