how do I adjust the temperature in my beaumark freezer?

the direction disk indicating which directionto turn the temperature control knob on my freezer is broken. the piece of the disk i have has an off indication and then a coldest to the right of it. Would I turn the actual knobby ( the disk is completely broken off) clockwise or counter clockwise for a colder freezer?
