Mend Craftsman Eager 1 2.5 Engine Carburetor Lawn Mower

Why does my lawn mower die after i start it?

Whe I start my Eager 1 2.5 craftsman lawmover the engine starts then cuts off and dies. I checked the spark plug and put a little bit of carburator cleaner in the carburator. Should I change the spark plug and get a new one or dismantle the carburator?

I'll bet you have a small piece of sand in the carb. Remove the carb, pull out the needle (don't lose the little spring!), then run a small piece of wire into the hole. You'll feel it knock the sand out.
Go to the engine manufcturer's web page and find the carb diagram for your model - it's much easier this way.

Make sure the air filter and gas cap are clean. It sounds like it's starving for fuel. It could be just dirt, or the carb may need a full cleaning.
