wipers won't turn off?

the wipers on my Peugeot Partner 600L van won't turn off even if I take the ignition key out. The only way to stop them is to disconnect the battery. I've checked the wiper motor under the scuttle and it's the pink wire which is permanently live. I've cut it for now and put a domestic light switch to save opening the bonnet every time I park up.
