Mend Miele G2420 Drain Filter

miele G2420 series drain pump impellor will not spin freely?

the inlet filter light comes on. we cleaned the inlet filter and cleaned the exhaust check ball and seat , but the impellor under it does not spin freely. it will spin maybe 1 revolution. should it spin more freely?

When I got my fingers on the impeller of the drain pump on my Bosch DW the impeller blades span freely but with some magnetic resistance i.e. they soon stopped - I suspect that all drain pumps are similar technology.
