Mend Brother KH830 Knitting Machine Problem

Problems with Brother KH830 punch card unit?

Hi, can anyone help? I've got a Brother KH830 but I'm having problems with the punchcard unit.

We've opened it up and it looks like the bit that turns the punchcard isnt connecting properly? You can push it back so it works, but as soon as you use the selector to disengage the punchcard it stops working!! Can anyone help?
Or does anyone know a service enginneer in the Peterborough area (UK)

Is part of the mechanism moving out of line? If it is it suggests there is a screw that has come loose or a spring that has fallen off. If this has happened you should be able to find it inside the machine.
The settings on the lever do three things.
1. When it is right forward the mechanism does not engage and the row on the card will repeat for as many rows of knitting as you wish.
2. A short arrow - the card will move on one row with each row of knitting.
3. A long arrow - the card will move on every other row of knitting, giving two rows of knitting for each row on the card.
