Mend AEG ADG642 Dishwasher Appliance Problem

adg642 - the power light goes out when the door is closed?

the dishwasher stopped half way through a cycle and since then the power light on the front door is alight when open but goes out when the door is closed. can anyone suggest what the problem is?
