Mend Challenge Extreme Problem Trips Rcd

shredder problem?

I have a Challenge Extreme garden shredder which trips my RCD when switched on in the forward mode. However when in reverse mode it runs fine. I am assuming that the motor is therefore ok and the problem lays in the electronics. Any ideas anyone?
