ford mondeo bonnet lock?

on my ford mondeo s reg. the cable to open the bonnet has jammed. i have tried to pull it with pliers to release the bonnet but this hasnt worked. i have now got to the point where i have taken the grill off but still can not release the bonnet. i can get to the release level but this does nothing until the bonnet has been released from the inside. does anyone know how i can release the internal lock? or even where abouts it is on the bonnet as having no luck. any help would be great. thanks
