Mend Passap Fitting Spare Parts

Fitting Pfaff/Passap spare parts?

A friend has just given me her Pfaff E6000 knitting machine with motor, but the plastic slots that hold the needles at the top of the bed (where both beds meet) are broken off in places. I have sourced the spare parts, but not sure how to fit them. Can anyone advise me how to get access to them please.

I have already taken out all the needles and pushers, cleaned and replaced them, and fixed the jammed colour changer, so I have some of what I am doing.

Thanks
Brenda

the top rail has a slot in the bottom that retains the screws that anchors the rail. Remove the long square piece that retains the needles, turn unit over and loosen the nuts about 1 and 1/2 turns (5mm socket) turn unit right side up carefully slide the top rail either direction to access the combs that you are changing the comb will have to be raised slightly on the bottom end need slight side clearence. the way that they are made makes them self locking in place

If the only trouble you are having is snapping on the top needles groove pieces, they just rest on the top of the metal bed and snap together very snugly. The book is helpful if you are having other questions too, but not foolproof as the order of operations is not as clear as it could be and somethings don't just go together as smoothly as the book would leave you to believe.

Hi Brenda,
I had a similar problem when I got my Duomatic 80. I found the book 'Be Your Own Passap Paramedic' by Michael Becker very helpful, available from BSK. It is quite an involved job - too much to write here. If you get a copy of the book it will guide you through all the stages and explain very clearly what order to do things in.
