Mend Qualcast Power Trak 34 Control Help

how do i reassembly control lever/handle on qualcast mower?

i need help with reassembling mycontrol lever/handle on a qualcast power trak34 electric mower, there is a small "L" shaped piece of metal called the spiral spring that needs to go some where between the red button and the lever inside tried every way i can think of but to no avail, any help would be greatley apreciated thank you.

they describe it as spring lever...
