Mend Sony DCR-IP7 Close Latch Mechanism

Sony DCR-IP7 Film Cassette Compartment?

My cassette compartment will not close and retract. It will not latch when I try to close it, nor will the sliding mechanism initiate after I attempt to close it.

I have a Sharp camcorder, but the answer from Raul Smith solved my "can't insert cassette" problem. I left the cassette compartment open. Turned the camera off, removed the battery according to the instructions in my manual. I left it out for less than a minute and reinserted the battery. As soon as I inserted the power cord and turned on the power the cassette compartment accepted the cartridge and I am in business again.

I had the same problem - On the screen, my error in the upper right hand corner was a C32:11

Here is how I solved it.

I pulled the battery off completely. left the door of the eject area open, then re connected the battery with the power already switched on. and strange but true the cassette loading bay started to try and eject. after a few moments it popped out. and the tape was ok to use again after too.
