Mend Electrolux 6500 Vacuum Bag

having gotten "into" an electrolux 6500 vacuum?

how do we now disengage the wiring in order to replace either the bag full sensor switch or the on/off switch...the wires hold the vacuum top and motor area together. HELP! mlt
