zanussi W1042W not emptying?

Thanks C.K. It was the belt that had frayed and broken in two places. I phoned around yellow pages and bought one second hand from a guy's van fairly locally. Easy to fit on. Without your simple advice I might not have got that far so a big thankyou. I found the hardest thing was connecting the water feed pipes. I'm sure they were like that in 1960. These machines might have computerised electronics but the gubbins is low state of the art isn't it? No wonder we still get wet floors occasionally! Such is the appliance of science.

Billy.there might be a slim chance the belt has just come off.they are elasticated and just need refitting.no adjustment or tightening of the belt is available.Make sure the drum rotates freely before fitting the belt!

Johnny hotpoint, thanks for replying. I guess I didn't make it very clear, but I have been able to empty it by using the drain programme. The door now opens, couldn't before because I suppose clothes were too sodden. Anyway now the machine's drum doesn't revolve in any programme from what I can make out. The motor sounds normal, but the drum doesn't go. Is this the belt, and is it straighforward for me to take the back off, or the front or the side or whatever, to gain access to the drum and fit a new belt if I send off for one? Any help on that would be appreciated, many thanks to you.

the spin cycle and the emptying cycle are both seperate to empty machine look to the filter at the front and clean it out beware of water u need abowl or two
