hoover tv630 belt snapped?

hi i have just changed the belt on my tumble dryer but the drum will not turn i have fed the belt around the pulleys at the bottom and the drum moves freely when you turn it manually but not turning with the aid of the motor is the belt at fault or is there something i am not doing if you could help it would be great ta
