Mend Briggs & Stratton Old Will Not Start

Old Westwood Gazelle (Briggs and Stratton 11HP) will not start?

It started immediately 2 weeks ago. Had mower for 7 years and has always started well.
Starter turns engine over fine, I have checked the plug sparks and fuel runs through fuel pipe to carburettor ok, (carburettor idle mixture and needle valve are adjusted for starting per Briggs and Stratton instruction manual), air filter is clean.
2 green lights for safe cutter and safe brake come on when ignition key turned. However red ignition light does not come on and I am not sure if this light should or did come on in the past when mower started.
If anyone knows whether ignition light should come on and what is likely to be wrong if it should be on. Also what to check next please let me know.
Thanks,

Peter

Ingition light on my old gazelle stays on when the engine is running, but it did not work when i got the mower, There is a small bulb looks like a small xmas tree bulb that had blown so just replaced it.

Have you tried ajusting the points on my old mower they are set at 20 thou ...sorry old school for me :>
You have to remove the rip start cover and then the fly wheel and a small plate which is held in place by three small screws.

my mower is the 8 HP version so your setting maybe different to mine but it may tell you what the settings are, I had problems starting it but as soon as i reset the points ..hey presto all good now.

Hope this helps

Try draining the float chamber. Usually, it's as simple as a blob of water working it's way down the fuel line into the carb.
