shower pump pressure?

hi there please could you help me? i recently fitted a bristan twin valve shower pump as my other pump had died .this new pump is fine for pressure only when i get it level with the mixer tap,then when i raise it to its normal holder position its fine but it will not start in this position for some reason ? please help thanks
