Mend Veritas R8 Keypad Alarm

Veritas R8 Keypad Frozen?

We've returned from shopping to find the house alarm has gone crazy.
Background: Veritas R8 - the one with the box showing just an LED and then a remote keypad.
Really bad thunderstorm outside - neighbour says we had a very large 'crackle' or thunder right about our houses.

Remote keypad: Zone 1 light is on red. Unset light is on green. Buttons make NO noise when pressed and keypad is unresponsive to any button pressing!

Main panel - LED light is on red.

Siren Box: LED flashing green.

Hubby has replaced 3amp spurred fuse thing located in wall. Checked all fuses in main panel and seem fine. Dare not remove keypad cover in case we can't turn the darn thing off! Also turned mains power off and it remained same - so would presume the battery is still functional?

Any ideas?

Hi Gerry, sorry been a manic weekend and only just checked the post. Husband bought a new battery today and we've just fitted it and hey presto - it worked!!!! Took the old one off, turned the power off, fitted new one and powered back up again. We expected a very expensive fix!
Hope you don't mind, but we'll keep your number on the alarm book for future reference. Thank you for you help :)
