How to remove stuck filter on Candy CN 105 T?

I wish to remove filter from my Candy CN105T washing filter. Have turned filter to vertical position as instructed but it will not budge. I suspect that there is something inside blocking it. Is this a common problem and is there any other way of removing the filter.
