You can order a replacement fuel cap for the JCB Petrol Strimmer (model m35) at the following address for a cost of £7.10 (accurate on 23/6/09).

They do not accept payment over the phone, so you need call them, find out the cost of the part you need, and send them a cheque or postal order to their address with a covering letter detailing the model of the part you are after. I have just done this today, the petrol cap for the model m35 is out of stock and should be in anytime now (awaiting a delivery from the Far East).

Took me a lot of running around to get my replacement fuel cap... so here is hoping it works!

I had the same problem.
Answer : wilko's slug pellets.
The cap is the same thread and fits well.
You will have to use the seal from the old cap or make one.
