SilverCrest RCH7S52 remote code for Tosh' DVD/VCR?

I also got one of these - very poor indeed.

It's as if the buttons are mixed up - impossible to use.

I bought it and attempted to get it working on the same day - no luck.

It hasn't worked as described in the manual, and doesn't serve any purpose other than gathering dust and consuming battery power.

I think it's time i binned it.

I bought one of these a few weeks ago.
It worked on one of my old receivers but not on my much newer TV and DVD.
I phoned the helpline in the manual and the number is no longer in use or is a bogus number.
As Lidl tends to have discontinued/overstocks, I suspect it the remote an old unit, and I am guessing that the unit does not recognise codes for various manufacturers new products. I also tried the learn function, but it would only work with some individual codes.
I am going to take it back for a refund
