Ford mondeo lost power?

Good-day,

I have lost all power in my 1999 Mondeo, when the car is just ticking over when I put the accelerator down to the floor and the response is the revs get to about 2-3k and then back to 1k, 2-3k and then back to 1k, 2-3k and then back to 1k, and that’s it.

Could this be a fuel issue or a timing belt issue, I had a similar problem about 6 months ago witch turned out to be the spark plugs. This time around it’s much worse
